Our Team. Committed to Success.
Scott Coleman, Founder
Scott Coleman has been involved in sales, management and customer service throughout his 25+ year career. Scott grew up living all over the United States and the world as the proud member of an Air Force family. He moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, graduated in 1991, and has lived in the beautiful and rapidly growing Central Texas area ever since. Scott spent the better part of a decade working at all levels of the hospitality industry and has extensive experience in the small business space. For the last 15+ years, he has been involved in the computer point-of-sale industry and has most recently been responsible for handling sales and management operations in the Central Texas area for a local multi-million dollar point-of-sale organization.
Along the way, Scott dabbled in real estate investing, but recently decided to explore and get educated on the intricacies of the self-storage industry. Now Scott is seeking to leverage his knowledge of sales, management, and investing in a new direction by working with a team of seasoned self-storage specialists to acquire self-storage facilities in Central Texas. Although there has been rapid growth in the self-storage industry in recent years, extensive research indicates there is still considerable opportunity in properly purchased and managed self-storage properties.
When Scott is not spending time with his wife and daughter, he plays tennis, works and plays outdoors, volunteers, cooks, and cheers on his favorite teams in person or on TV.
Scott Meyers, CSSM, President - Alcatraz Storage
Scott Meyers, CSSM, is the nation’s leading self storage educator. He travels the country revealing why self storage has become the hottest sector in commercial real estate over the past 30 years that virtually nobody has heard about. Practically every real estate investor and entrepreneur has uttered the words “I’ve always wondered about self storage, I’ve heard those things were cash cows”. It was only after becoming a penniless millionaire in the single family and apartment business, and a near bankruptcy experience managing several hundred tenants and toilets that Scott asked himself that very same question.
Scott is the owner and President of Alcatraz Storage® which operates several self storage facilities in the Midwest. Scott is a Certified Self Storage Manager (CSSM) through the National Self Storage Association and is a Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) through The National Apartment Association. He has been a real estate investor since 1993, and was an instructor of the Landlord 101 course through the University of Indianapolis.
Scott Meyers speaks to investor groups nationwide but mostly enjoys spending time at home with his wife and 3 young children in Indianapolis, Indiana.
